These shifts are reserved for school-age volunteers and their parents/guardians. Please read through the following information carefully and reach out to volunteer@thegreenchair.org if you have any questions.
Please note: If a minor is accompanied by an adult, both must register separately for an account AND sign up for a volunteer shift ahead of time. Each volunteer takes one spot. We encourage you to carefully read the registration steps at the bottom of the page to ensure you successfully reserve your spot.
During your volunteer shift, you may be asked to assist with a combination of the following:
- Cleaning, processing, and organizing donations
- Packing items for clients
- Outdoor beautification projects (e.g. planters, garden, front porch)
- Additional projects as needed
Attire:
- Closed-toe shoes are required for safety purposes.
- Please wear comfortable clothing you can move around in and do not mind getting dirty. Keep in mind that activities may be physical in nature and include bending down and moving items, and therefore clothing choices should be appropriate for the activities and safe in nature.
- Volunteers should dress in a manner that is modest and appropriate, avoiding short skirts and shorts, midriff-bearing or low-cut tops, or any other clothing that is revealing in nature.
Volunteer Requirements:
- The minimum age to volunteer is 13. Volunteers ages 13-15 must be accompanied by an adult (18+).
- If a minor is accompanied by an adult, both must register for an account and sign up for a volunteer spot ahead of time.
- All minors must have a parent or guardian sign the minor release form prior to registering for a volunteer shift. The release form will be available once your register for an account (see steps below).
How to sign up to volunteer:
Please ensure that you have completed ALL steps below to reserve your spot.
- Click the blue "respond" button and either sign in or register for an account.
- To register for an account: complete step 1, "create an account," and step 2, "qualifications." Be sure to sign the volunteer waiver.
- The minor waiver is a two-part process, where the minor signs first and then the parent/guardian receives an email with a link to sign their part. Once both steps are complete, you will be able to continue with the registration process.
- Go back to the event page. Click the blue "respond" button again and register for the event.
- You will receive an email titled "Confirmation: The Green Chair Project Volunteer Shift." This is different from the welcome email you receive after creating an account. If you do not receive the confirmation email, check that you have successfully completed all steps above. If you still have difficulty, please email volunteer@thegreenchair.org.
